STATEMENT FROM THE CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF WYMONDHAM TOWN FOOTBALL CLUB LIMITED

As we advance from the absolutely perilous position we found ourselves in March last year, we are at a major crossroads for the 132 year old club. The work load in running a £100,000 turnover business is exhausting and has been carried out by a board consisting of just 5 people. At this year’s AGM our Company Secretary Gemma Hamilton and our Marketing Director Chris Wiseman will be officially resigning at Companies House from their positions on the board. This leaves just 3 board members which are myself, Mark Brown and Emma Chambers.

It is absolutely impossible to run a 7 day a week business efficiently with so few people. Mark is home 3 weeks and away 3 weeks, Emma has a full time job as an accountant and I now personally work 6 days a week. We are all passionate about Wymondham Town Football Club Limited or we would not have all invested well in excess of 35 hours each and every week since we took over on March 31st last year.

We are at a point though where we need help and not just talk. There is enough talk in Wymondham as we all know, most of which emanates from people who had every opportunity over the last 2 decades to turn both the football and business side of the club around. These people never did but constantly criticise the current committee for everything we have tried to do. Without people wishing to be considered to be Directors of this club we are struggling. If you did not wish to be a Director with responsibilities then we are trying to form subcommittees, With Football (Mark needs as much help as he can get) Business, Fundraising and Match Day Committees all needing to be formed.

We are in a position where if the 3 of us could no longer carry on the Football Club would be in very very severe trouble. This not myself or the board Crying Wolf but a real and heartfelt plea for people to help us. We do not expect long term and regular commitment but a couple of hours a week maybe to keep the football club heading in the right direction and taken to where it always should have been would be great.

We admit we got things wrong on the football side last season which lead to the first team being relegated. The buck for that stops with Myself and Mark Brown and we apologise sincerely to all our members and supporters. The club was in such dire straits we had to focus on the business side of the club or quite simply there would have been no football full stop. We now wish to focus on the football side. A new young ambitious First team Manager has been appointed in Matthew Bradley by the board on the recommendation of Mark Brown. He shares our commitment to the historic values of the past and has tremendous ambition for the future, The board would sincerely like to wish him all the very best in his role.

We know if the Club wishes to advance it cannot stay at the Kings Head Meadow. We are not talking about advancement in to Thurlow Nunn  Football but just advancement where we can have a couple of good pitches a training area and club house to sustain and grow what we have on the footballing side. We need your help to help us plot the course on this as it would guarantee the clubs survival for the next 30 years.

Please do not leave it to others we need your help now to make Wymondham the Club it always should have been.

In closing I would like to thank Adrian Everett and Gareth Motterham for keeping the first team going after the dark days of November. Robert Hodges was absolutely immense in running the reserves, Carl Bates and Mark Brown with the Under 19s and all associated with our most successful team once again Wymondham Town Ladies. Thanks to all our Match day helpers especially Mike Heard, Sharon Wilson and Ted Reynolds.

I would like to pay a special thank you to all the players who stayed loyal to the club and saw the season out. You are an absolute credit to yourselves and the club and as Chairman I am immensely proud of all of you. I know my style is different to that of previous Chairman but I would like to pay a special thank you to First Team Captain Lewis McKerrell. Lewis worked immensely hard along with Club Captain Dom Frost in keeping it all together and I for one cannot thank him enough for his efforts both on and off the field.

Please volunteer to help us and lets really take this club back to where it always should have been. With all your efforts this is very achievable.
